OMG IT IS A PIT BULL

I just had to share a few stories with you today.... just shows people's ignorance.

Story #1.

Lakewood has a Pit Bull ban. A family had a Boxer Lab mix who just so happened to be brindle. They were walking their dog down the street when they were approached by a neighbor who threw a fit about how they had a Pit Bull and aren't they concerned about the children in the neighborhood. The husband explained how the dog was not a Pit Bull but the neighbor said "You can see by looking at it that it is a Pit Bull"

To make a long story short. The husband spent a night in jail because the city insisted the dog was a Pit Bull and the family wouldn't get rid of it. The family ended up fighting the city b/c the dog was not a Pit Bull. The family hired a lawyer and had the dog DNA tested which proved the dog was a Boxer / Lab mix.

Story #2.

Last year I rescued this sweet little 4 week old puppy. The pound told the owner of the puppy if they turn it into the pound it will be immediately destroyed (aka KILLED) because it looks like a Pit Bull. I didn't think he looked like a Pit Bull at all so I took him.

He turned out to be a Great Dane / Lab mix! HE IS HUGE but the nicest dog ever.

Story #3.

Same situation at above, the pound was going to put to sleep a dog because it looked like a Pit Bull. A rescue friend of mine took the dog before it went to the pound because it was just the sweetest dog ever. Long story short, had the dog DNA tested and it turned out to be a Rotti / JRT mix. LOL! What a combo!

Story #4.

Not a Pit Bull story but just to drill my point home.

I had rescued a dog dumped by his owners at the shelter. He came with papers, he was a pure breed registered with AKC JRT. Honestly he looked like a strange JRT to me but whatever, I saved him.

I of course destroyed the papers because in my opinion they are worthless and this story just proves that... The new owner had him DNA tested. He is a Rat Terrier Chihuahua mix.

some pure breed AKC JRT, don't ya think!

*********************************************

So, the point to these stories.......... DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER

You know the infamous "pit bull" puppy, Liberty, that was rescued from the Lucas county dog pound. Well she was dna tested and came back she is American bull dog.
