I had wanted two dogs for awhile because other people who had two, their dogs seemed "happier" somehow -- maybe there was an anthropomorphic element too, that I was thinking of the dogs like people who get lonely and could keep each other company. So, here we are -- the pups just turned 11 weeks old today, we've had them for a week and a half, and I'm already concerned that they are so into each other and seem totally oblivious to the humans in our family unless we have the food or treats. Today I found a TON of articles and advice on the internet warning not to get two puppies from the same litter -- I would really appreciate your perspective as a rescuer because I'm sure you've seen what happens when these situations go south. The breeder has a clause in her contract that she will take the dog or dogs back if we cannot keep them, so it's not like I'd put one in a shelter -- but should I even consider giving one pup back to the breeder like a do-over? They are only 11 weeks old and she would have no problem placing them with someone else. I'm just worried especially with rotties that if they are not bonded with our family and have a pack mentality between the two of them, that we may be in for a disaster down the road. What do you think? Oh, and I do have two children, 7 and 10, who are delighted about the dogs but their safety has to be paramount.Rebecca Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14801489818836195754noreply@blogger.com
