6 are coming.

Well JRT's are falling from the sky all of a sudden. Good news though 1 that I got an email about on Friday that was going to get EU'd but I couldn't get to because I was going away for the weekend did find a home!

However, while I was gone I got a TON of emails about dogs in need. Actually two more emails sitting in my inbox right now that I have to read about urgent JRT's. YIKES!

So, I am supposed to be getting 4 off transport on Thursday. Honestly my fingers are crossed that at least 1 gets adopted straight from the shelter... all of them would be nice but hey I am not pushing my luck. LOL!!

I am also supposed to get two from the West part of Ohio this week too. Just trying to figure out transport.

I also was told about 3 other dogs that need out ASAP but I just can't save them all, ya know. Even though I totally want to. I have been emailing everyone I know trying to find another rescue to take them. If worse comes to worse you know I am not going to let anything happen to them.... they will end up at my house and I will be crying... LOL!!

This year has been rough. Adoptions are down, people wanting to give up their dogs are up and the pounds are FULL of strays. Seriously I have been doing this for 5 years and I don't remember it EVER being this bad. I did get a small break were there weren't any JRT's in shelters so at least I have been able to get some into foster homes and get a few adopted but getting 6 more in...YIKES

I have 6 JRT's now, 1 doxie mix and my 100# Great Pyrenees and soon to be 6 more JRT's. LOL!

Here are the pictures of the new kids that I am getting this week.

The weekend is over........

Well the week went pretty good. I did get a new JRT in on Thursday. She was from Pike County Pound and was going to die. She is a nice little dog, very young and all JRT :)

Friday night my one foster home Suzie came and took 3 dogs and then I took Trooper to Sharon's. So, that only left Mora, Tressel, Deuce (the new dog), Rose and Dorothy at my house. So, really not too bad. I took care of everyone Friday and then Kirsten took care of them Saturday and then I got home early enough to take care of my kids. Can't believe how much I missed my dogs. LOL!!

I wasn't sure I would have cell service when I was camping but believe it or not I did. Poor Sharon who took Trooper called me on Friday night freaking out. Trooper got out of his pen at her house. UGH! So, he has been missing since Friday night. She did see him Saturday around 3 or 4pm. I went today and looked for him for 1.5 hours but all I found was wet doggie prints in the mud. I know he is living in her woods and we will get him back but just stinks and I feel bad for Sharon because she is so upset.

Seriously is leaving really worth it.. LOL!!

I got an email on Friday about a JRT in Carrollton County that was very urgent. I sent out a few emails but didn't hear anything back so I hoping someone pulled her or if she is still there that I can get her.

There is a JRT in Licking County that is urgent, there is another one near Cinci with tumors that I am trying to get and there are 3 in Shelby that I am waiting to see what the status is on them and there is another one.... shoot I forget where that one came from. Anyways, there are JRT's coming out of the wood work again.

Ya, know I wouldn't freak out so much if I was actually getting applications.

Well I will keep you updated on if Trooper shows back up and who all I get on transport this week. Hopefully I can get someone adopted and few more moved into a foster home so that I can have room. LOL!

It is a doggie dog world :-)

Well not too much is happening. A women I work with came over on Sunday and took home little Winnie for a trial :-) I emailed her today and she says so far so good. Winnie doesn't mind the cat but the cat is pretty upset the dog is around and she is doing good with listening and getting lots of play time with her daughter. Sounds like a good match!

I am stressing just a little as I have 4 days to find someone to watch my critters while I am camping this weekend. I need dog baby sitters in a bad way.... I have 3 foster homes that don't have a foster right now so if they each take one that would be awesome. The one foster home doesn't have any other dogs so sometimes they take two.. that would rock!

I have some pretty good dogs right now. It is amazing, I go through spells. I mean they are always nice dogs but some tend to run more then others when they get loose. The ones I have right now really aren't interested in leaving me. That is a good sign of loyal easy to train dogs.

So, adoptions are still super slow. I talked to a lady I know in NY and she said things are bad there too. UGH! Too many Innocent dogs die because people are such jerks! I really hope people start to wake up and some of these dream laws of mandatory spay/ neuter come into affect. Hey a girl can dream can't she?

Well to all of those people out there whose dogs are spayed and neutered and who got their dog from a shelter, rescue, etc. THANKS!

Adoption event today

Well today I had an adoption event. It was pretty busy but not a lot of takers. One of my dogs Freya got a home. Not sure what she was just a mix but cute and sweet and just a great dog! Hopefully some of the people that took my card and wanted to think about will send in an application.

I got a new dog today from Stark County pound. Tressel, a cute little broken coat JRT. I know Tressel what a name... thanks to Sarah N. who rescued him today.. LOL!! Hopefully this little guy was worth all the trouble he caused. Sarah adopted two dogs from me Jagger and Scarlet (aka Violet when I had her) she helps get dogs from shelters from time to time. She was suppose to meet up with Valerie. Valerie also adopted a dog from me, Fred (aka Bob when he was with me). Poor Valerie got cut off on the highway and crashed her car. I tried calling her but got her voice mail so hopefully she is ok. Sarah said she talked to Val and Val said she is ok but I am still worried.

Anways, poor Sarah had to drive all the way to me at Pet Smart at Great Northern to bring me th dog. I was there today from 11 - 4 so I was totally stuck. Sarah had to cancel her hair appointment and everything. I feel horrible. I told Tressel he owes her so he better be a good boy and get a great home. he just looked at me funny... LOL!!

So, that was today's adventure.

Nothing too much else has gone on this week. I did pull a dog from Lorain County Dog Pound on Thursday. Some kind of big shep mix. I named him Trooper. He was supposed to be put down last Tuesday but asked the warden not to, there was just something about it. I was really hoping he would get adopted because he is a very nice boy but I think he was too depressed in the pound and wasn't eating very well. he was pretty sick looking. He is already looking better now that I wormed him and I have food in front of him 24 / 7. I am taking him and Tressel on Tuesday to get neutered.

Well here is to hoping that more dogs find their way to safety and loving families.

Not a bad weekend

Well things in the dog rescue world are slow.... well slow for adoptions, everyone is complaining of that but as far as people dumping dogs / stray dogs at the pounds that has almost picked up. I was at the pound on Thursday and a man comes in with his OLD, I mean VERY old dog (pure breed) and just dumps him there. I wanted to scream and yell at him, I didn't but I wish I would have. When I went to the pound on Saturday that poor dog looked horrible just laying there in the heat... the pound doesn't have AC for the dogs.

Well Thursday Jake (the dog warden) gave me a list of dogs that had just been at the pound too long and with the way things were going as far as strays and people dumping he need them out or else! So, I sent out a plea and was able to get 6 of the 8 dogs out of the pound before close of business on Saturday. I have been unable to sleep about the 2 I had to leave behind and hope that Jake spared their lives this morning but if Sunday and Monday were as busy with strays as the last week then I am guessing those 2 dogs have moved on to a better place where no one can hurt them any more.

On the bright side 6 dogs that would have died this morning are safe and sound either with a family or in foster care. There was one little guy that would have NEVER been adopted and would have for sure been killed this morning if I didn't get him out of there. He was so scared he did nothing but hide in the corner of his small kennel and shake. The rescue that took him has him in a foster home and says he is doing great. Runs up to you and gives you a million kisses!!

Sunday was a pretty good day too. Skipper my Cattle dog that I have had since Jan finally got the dream home I wanted for her. She is living in Carroll County on a Cattle farm :-) YAY!!! I am so excited and the guy who adopted her and his girlfriend couldn't be nicer people!

Jumping Johnny a litter 11 month old JRT got adopted on Sunday too. He is now living with a husband and wife and a BIG brother. The wife is a vet who is going to school at OSU to become a specialist and the BIG BROTHER is a Bull Mastiff. He is HUGE! Johnny didn't care. He licked him and then stood under him for shade... LOL!! Pretty funny!

Oh and Trevor will be adopted on Friday. His parents are renaming him Johnny Boy :-) The boyfriend REALLY liked Jumping Johnny but Johnny was WAY TOO much of a JRT... LOL!! Trevor is much more laid back and chill, although he must be adjusting well to living at my house because he has been a little spit fire the last few days... too funny!!!

Thursday transport is just around the corner and looks like I am off the hook this week. No, JRT's that I know of that need me. That is a good thing b/c I am not sure where I would put them.. LOL!! I am having an adoption event on Saturday so here is to hoping that I can get a few more dogs a home... even just 2 so I can have some room... maybe even a break... I wonder what that would be like.. a break! LOL!!

just another day

Well not a lot is going on. Things are slow. Adoptions are down but the dogs keep coming in. As of this morning I had 20 dogs in total in my rescue... 13 living at my house, Kirsten (foster home) has two, Christie (in Dayton) has 3, Lisa (foster home) still has poor little Turner and my brother is fostering one... I think that is it... I can't remember.. LOL!!

Good news though. Ralphie was adopted today by this wonderful family.. I am so excited!!! And another lady who I just think is great came over and wants to adopt Trevor!! So, that is good.

I am supposed to be getting a dog named Buddy off transport on Thursday. There was a lady interested in him already but I am not sure if she still is :-( I hope so b/c I am not sure I have room for another long term er. Well I guess I just make the room right?

I am going to do an adoption event next week (14th). Fingers crossed it goes better then the last one!

I guess that is it for now. I am exhausted and just overwhelmed as usual with dogs so I am off to answer emails from people wanting me to take their dog because it.... pees in the house, chases the cat, fights with the other (2 female JRT's in one house.. duh!), moving, having a baby.... yes these are all real emails I have gotten in the last few days. UGH!
