Bad Dog Food Brands and What Ingredients You Should Never Feed Your Dog.
Read your dog food labels – There are literally hundreds of brands and varieties of dog food.
Bad dog food = shortened life span for your companion.
Below is a listing of some of the inexpensive dog food brands, with the harmful, dangerous and unnecessary ingredients that you should not see on your dog food ingredient label, highlighted in red.
This is not a complete listing of all the brands with harmful ingredients, just the more popular names. Unfortunately there are still too many out there.
Use this list as a guide on what bad dog food ingredients to avoid when buying commercial dog food.
If a specific brand of food is not listed here it does not mean it is bad or good food. You can find the complete ingredient listing and nutritional analysis on any of the dog food manufacturers websites. An ingredient list like the dog food on this page should always be avoided.

I am just using these foods as examples of what I consider unhealthy and dangerous. Any dog who is fed a consistent and regular diet of corn will be more prone to illnesses, allergies and a shorter life.
DOGS ARE CARNIVOIRES – All these examples have corn as the main ingredient. Use these foods as a guide to see what you should not be feeding your dog.

Bad and good dog food is a topic I am quite passionate about, it is my soapbox. Do you know that there's a class action lawsuit against the top garbage makers because of misleading advertising? They promote their food as "healthy" and your pet will lead a long life if you feed them their food! Also, most vets have no clue about dog food, a lot of vets actually push Hill's Science Diet, which is pure GARBAGE!!! I know quite a bit on this subject, only because I've done tons of research to find the best for my two dogs.
Is there a brand that you personally swear buy? I always read the ingredients, but sometimes feel overwhelmed with the choice - I'd love any recommendations. :)
I make all my dog's food. I wouldn't feed them any of the junk that comes in a bag.
My Viszla-mix, Sam, has a very sensitive stomach and most treats don't agree with him, but we need treats for his obedience training and I was really at a loss. This article is great! No junk (I couldn't believe what goes into most commercial treats...), and I can choose what goes into them..
