I say let him have one! I think he should have to take in one of the dogs that HE messed up in the first place and help rehabilitate it.
This is what pisses me off. He did all these horrible things to these dogs, the dogs were all taken away from him and so what he went to jail. BIG FREAKING DEAL!
He didn't have to help transport the dogs to the shelters / rescues / people that took them in. He didn't have to transport them to and from the vet for medical care. He didn't have to watch the trainers / specialists test the dogs to see if rehabilitation was possible. He didn't have to watch as some of the dogs were put to sleep.
He was hauled off and put in jail. Never seeing first hand the actual damage he did.
So, I say sure he can have a dog but it has be to one of the ones that is still being rehabilitated. He has to work with the dog that is scared and he has to look at the physical scare he created. Why in the HELL should he not have to???!!
I am sick and tired of rescues always cleaning up someone else's mess! I am sick and tired of animals abusers, dog hoarders, puppy millers having their animals taken from them and they just turn around and do it all over again!
Vick wants a dog, he can have a dog ONE OF HIS!

Agreed; good point! Throw him in a kennel with a dog fearful of humans that wants to lash out aggressively...a dog he caused to be like this. And then see if he still 'wants a dog'!
You read the book about the dogs that were rehabilitated? It is amazing.
I'm currently reading 'The Lost Dogs'. Michael Vick wasn't just a front man for this barbaric operation like he wanted so many to believe. He not only participated in the operation but he took an ACTIVE part in eliminating the dogs that couldn't perform up to whatever was considered good and we aren't talking euthinasia here. I'm waiting to get to the 'amazing' part of this book, though I know it's coming. The heroes in this story are the judges and rescuers that didn't want to agree with PETA and the Humane Society in their opinions that the dogs could not be saved and instead, sought out and found the right people to do that...the dog rescuers...and of course the dogs who proved everyone involved right.
The sickest part of this story is that it's Michael Vick's daughter that wants a dog. The fact that he is 'allowed' to have kids let alone an animal is somehow criminal to me.
I was pretty angry when I heard about this too. I honestly can't watch him play football. He shouldn't have a dog any more than a child abuser should ever have a child.
HOWEVER...that being said - he HAS paid his debt to society. We need to move on and let this go. To continue to to rake him over the coals serves no purpose.

I dont think he should even be allowed to have one of his "abused" dogs that he abused..lord knows what he would do to it...ughhh..Sick people..make me ill..It is sad that other people have(or should I say, DO and pick up slack for stupid people who neglect dogs/animals)...Thank god we do have rescuers and others who will help take care and rehabilitate the dogs..He totally should not be allowed to have ANY dog..he would prob. kill it..Sick "boy"..cannot even call him a man..
HE HAD 50 DOGS, AND MOST OF THOSE DOGS ARE STILL TRYING TO FORGET THAT VICK WAS THEIR OWNER! SOMEONE WHO SHOOTS,HANGS,AND ELECTROCUTES DOGS, SHOULD NEVER OWN A DOG AGAIN. HE SAYS HAVING A DOG WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR HIS REHABILITATION? WE DON"T CARE ABOUT YOUR REHABILITATION...AND BESIDES, YOU CAN'T REHABILITATE A SOCIOPATH...THERE IS NO TREATMENT...FACE IT VICK, YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO OWN A DOG...TELL THAT TO YOUR KIDS!!!
