Sad sad dog...

Every Sunday as usual I get a list of dogs from shelters in southern Ohio... Liking County, Pike County, Adams County, Scioto County, maybe one or two more pounds. The list of dogs are the dogs that will be killed if not taken from the shelter.

It is a hard thing to look at every week. It is just picture after picture after picture.. of dogs that more then likely will not be alive by Friday.

This list is sent to numerous rescues in Ohio, Canada, Chicago... I am sure a lot of other places too. The rescues who aren't full or strapped for cash request dogs to be transported to them via the Thursday transport that Stop the Suffering organizes. Stop the Suffering is a not for profit, works on donations group that rescues cats and dogs and organizes this amazing Thursday transport. If it wasn't for them SO SO many dogs would die... cats too. You can find them on line and if you want to help transport dogs or support them through donations please do!

Anyways, for the last 2 weeks this picture has been on the list:

This week it said that if someone doesn't step up and say they will take him by end of day Monday HE WILL DIE TUESDAY!

Look at that dog, doesn't he look horrible?

When I saw his picture last week I was really hoping someone would step up for him but no one did and when I saw him again and with the warning that he was being put to sleep Tuesday (today) I had to do something.

So, Thursday this poor dog is coming to me. My friend Sharon is going to help me with him. He is going to need a lot of TLC, good food and treatment for his skin. He has some type of manage and I am sure a flea allergy. It will be a long road and probably an expensive one but I just can't bare this poor dog dieing not being loved and cared for.

Hopefully I will be able to get him feeling better and find him a home. I am not sure what his breed is but I guess we will figure that out later... looks like a hound mix. He looks like a big dog but pictures can be deceiving.

His name will be Marshall... pray for him.

Well of course I asked the person who sends the kill list to me what else needed out ASAP. She sent me this picture:

She said it is a female, really small. I have NOT A CLUE as to what this little girl's breed is but she needs a safe place... any guess on breeds for either of these, I am open to suggestions :-)

You are amazing and truly inspiring. Thank you for all you do. I am the Italian Greyhound Rescue Rep for VA and think that second little girl might have some IG in her. ;-)

When I get her I will post better pictures of her :-)

image. Toy rat terrier. Great dogs - easy to place since they are so smart, so QUIET compared to Jacks, and non-reactive.

Looks like a rat terrier to me. What a cutie pie.

Do not despair - hard as it is! Ignorance is everwhere and some folks are HAPPY in their ignorance. All YOU can do is plant a seed and hope it falls on fertile ground. Keep up the good work.

They are both so sweet. I was on the internet when I found a link to your story. What you are doing is amazing, I wish more people felt the same way. I am the supervisor for an Animal Control facility in Texas and it is my job to do the unimaginable. I go home crying and praying for people like you. Thank you so much for your heart and dedication. You have no idea how good it feels just to read about the dogs you are saving.

Both the dogs really look sweet eventhough marshall has bad skin. I just know you will help him regain his strenght and become a very beautiful and loving dog! I wish that I could help more with the care of the dogs but I live quite far from you! (South africa). Keep up all the good work you are doing. you and all the other people that help rescue these innocent beings are in my thought and prayers!!
